    Abstract:

    Carbothermic reduction process was adopted by a company in Shandong to produce metal arsenic, causing serious corrosion to the vertical electric heating tank during the production process and keeping the production cost of metal arsenic stubbornly high. To solve this problem, the company analyzed the corrosion mechanism of the 310S stainless steel tank and found that the corrosion was caused by impurity elements such as S and Cl in arsenic trioxide corroding the oxidation film on the surface of the tank base material at high temperature. By taking measures such as plating metallic coatings on the surface of 310S tank and reducing operating temperature, the service life of the tank could be extended from 8~10d to 30~45d, greatly reducing the production cost of metal arsenic.
