Abstract:As a result of lacking a holistic approach in mine development, the multi-metal mine in Shizhuyuan has room for improvement in the automation of mining equipment and facilities, the mineral processing process, and the digitalization of operation management. To the address these drawbacks, a comprehensive framework is proposed in this article for the automation and digitalization of the Shizhuyuan Mine, based on the actuality of the mine and aiming at safety, efficiency, environmental friendliness, and intelligence. The framework comprises communications network, industrial big-data center, digitalized management platform, and intelligent mining and mineral processing systems, etc., corresponding to four system levels: equipment monitoring, production execution, digitalized management, and operation decision-making. The framework can serve as a guidance for a quality development of the Shizhuyuan Mine.

Abstract:A visualized, integrated control platform for intelligent mining is an on-site manufacturing operation platform on the edge side. Based on edge computing and digital-twin visualization, the system adopts a service-oriented architecture (SOA) and microservices, container and virtualization technology, with intensive integration with BIM+GIS, and hosts an edge-based, micro data center. The platform provides an integrated gateway for ground-measured process data, operational data, and stream data, collects and process data from the sensing and execution layers, and builds digital models thereon and feed them to visualized applications. By leveraging the end-edge-cloud architecture, and with interactions between the IoTT platform and digital models and their applications, the integrated control system can collaborate withfield control systems for production operation and automated equipment.

Abstract:The article introduces an improvement to the automatic large-cathode zinc stripperdeveloped by BGRIMM Machinery & Automation Technology. The article begins with an overview of the basic structure and work process of the BKA automatic stripper, then analyzes the structural design and work process of the cathode plate automatic replacement mechanism. The mechanism solves the problem of replacing bad quality plates on line, and greatly increases the stripping efficiency and the reliability and safety of the stripper, having importantimplications to the stripping application.

Abstract:Taking the loading mechanism of a certain underground LHD as the object of study, the article proposes a new method of calculating the loading resistance. The article first describes the composition and working principles of the loading mechanism, and then presents a loading resistance model, which was built based on soil mechanical principles and a continuous, smooth curve of the loading movement, obtained after investigating the loading process. Finally, a way of estimating the loading resistance is proposed: assuming the loading resistance and the traction by the LHD are in a dynamic balance during the loading process, the resistance can be calculated based on the traction. The article can provide theoretical reference and technical support for the algorithm design and operation of autonomous loading, hence great value of engineering application.

Abstract:The article provides a systematic summary of the key technologies used for the centerline embankment method, which has been appliedin the construction and operation of three tailings facilities: Tailings Pond No.4 and No.5 of Dexing Copper Mine, and Yulangpei TSF of Pulang Copper Mine. These technologies include both those that have been used during construction and operation as well. The key technologies used during construction include: site selection, tailings classification system selection and tailings balance calculation. The key technologies during operation include: real-time control of the tailings used for centerline embankment, phase-wise use of machinery for embankment, continuous embankment with the coarse secondary tailings, and the multi-dimensional flood containment and discharge system used in rainy areas. The improvement and development of these key technologies have important guiding implications for the construction and operation of tailings facilities of the same kind, and can contribute to the promotion and application of the centerline embankment method in China.

Abstract:Taking the loading mechanism of a certain underground load-haul-dump (LHD) as the object of study, the article first describes the composition and working principles of the LHD and its loading mechanism, and then probes into the autonomous process based on different loading methods to achieve autonomous loading. A curve describing the movement of the bucket was mapped out and tracked. Then a control algorithm was developed based on expert knowledge, and was tested. According to the test results, the autonomous loading was of high precision and reached the standard for the full-bucket rate. The accuracy and reliability of the algorithm was thus verified.

Abstract:As calcium-magnesium (Ca-Mg) crystallization seriously affect the operation of hydrometallurgical zinc extraction systems, a lot of attempts have been made to solve this issue. The article provides an overview of the practices and R&D in the industry for Ca-Mg removal. These practices include concentrate acidic washing, solvent extraction, fluoridation for precipitation, and cooling for crystallization, solution bleeding. The article analyzes the working mechanisms, strengths and weaknesses, and the prospects of application of these practices respectively.

Abstract:The article first describes the process of side-blown incineration of hazardous waste and the characteristics of the flue-gas, and then gives an introduction to the gas cleaning process accordingly, followed by a case study of its application in a commercial operation. The focus of the study is on the dense flow absorber and the effect of its first application in the treatment of the flue-gas from side-blown furnaces for hazardous waste incinerationis described. The results show that the expected aim has been achieved. The article also explores the issues and improvements made during real operation, hence a reference for the design of projects of the same nature.

Abstract:The high pressure acid leaching process has been developing fast recently. As its core equipment, the horizontal autoclave is growing ever larger. With such growth in size, load-bearing becomes more complex and danger increases. As a result, finite element analysis (FEA) software has been used to analyze the structural safety of the vessels. To better accommodate the characteristics of the autoclave structure, we made some secondary development based on the existing FEA software using APDL and VB languages, to customize the data input and output modules. The secondary development automates the manual process of model building, grid setting, and complex parameters setting, greatly increasing the efficiency of equipment analysis and design.

Abstract:An Integration of molten metal, water and electricity, the power-frequency coreless electric induction furnace has been widely used in the melting and castingof zinc alloy. The furnace has many strengths, which have facilitated the alloy production: strong melting capability, good chemical quality of the product thanks to the electro-magnetic agitation, high zinc recovery, easy control of furnace temperature, low energy consumption, high operability as it is easy to tilt and rotate, and simple furnace cleaning. The furnace, however, has been plagued by liner leakage, because of issues in liner installation and liner structure. In the industry, a newly lined furnace can only operate for 500-1000 batches before zinc leakage occurs. The leakage burns coil insulations and other auxiliaries, posing great threat to the operator as well. Also as the crucible inside has to be removed to enable relining when a leakage occurs, the costs are high and operation must be interrupted for a rather long period. To address these issues, we have made some improvements on the design of the furnace body reinforcement and insulation areas, and have taken measures during operation accordingly. These efforts have lengthened the liner service life up to 3000 batches, contributing to a more economic and stable operation.

Abstract:Aiming at the main problems existing in the first-phase emergency power supply system, the capacity of new diesel-generator set is calculated scientifically to meet the enterprise’s power demand of first order load; the reasonable use of mature technology and equipment not only reduce the cost and construction difficulty, but also improve the reliability and quick response ability of the expanded emergency power supply system. After the expanded system is put into use, it can fully meet the needs of safety production.

Abstract:Modbus protocol is a completely open communication protocol, which is widely used in various control systems and intelligent instrumentation. Combined with the actual on-site situation of the smelter, Modbus protocol is applied to the whole process monitoring of smelting off-gas, and a communication network based on Modbus is built to link the DCS control system, PLC system and intelligent instrumentation of the whole plant to each other, realizing interconnection and interoperation. Related data of off-gas are analyzed and processed, and these data are used to realize the whole process closed-loop control of off-gas. The proposed technology provides data and information support for the automation and information construction of the smelter, and it is very important for improving the automation level of off-gas monitoring in non-ferrous metallurgy enterprises.

Abstract:This paper analyzes the current situation and existing problems of UPS in the distributed computer process control system of an African copper smelting enterprise. In view of these problems, the UPS transformation scheme is designed, and the detailed description for the configuration of UPS equipment, calculation of UPS and battery capacity, and selection calculation of service cables are proposed.

Abstract:In view of the present situation that the ore grade of bauxite which decreases year by year leads to the increasing amount of red mud and affects the settling performance of the settling tank, and combining with the current production practice of the existing settling tank, this paper introduces the upgrading method and implementation steps of the central shaft feed system of efficient deep cone tank from venturi to chute type. The self-overflow of pipe be realized by using the height drop of settling tank, so that the overflow pump can be removed. Through the implementation of a specific plan, the purposes of reducing power consumption and improving the treatment capacity of the settling tank are realized.

Abstract:The COVID-19 pandemic has been raging. The outbreaks inevitably lead to sudden surges of medical waste, which beyonds the existing local medical waste treatment ability. It is not feasible to blindly build a large number of medical waste treatment facilities, which will cause great waste. However, the waste related to COVID-19 must be properly disposed in time to avoid secondary infection, therefore, under the premise of meeting safety and environmental protection, it is an effective means to use domestic waste incineration facilities to treat medical waste in the specific phase.

Abstract:This paper introduces that the market has made further requirements on the appearance of electrolytic cathode copper obtained from complex materials by conventional method: the labeling rate of cathode copper should be controlled at about 6.24%. By classifying complex anodes and and overcoming the difficulties, optimizing equipment functions and improving fine management of electrolysis, not only the problem of increasing cathode copper labeling rate caused by complex anodes is relieved, but also the quality of cathode copper is improved.

Abstract:This paper takes the Dresser-Rand extraction turbine as an example, in view of the failure phenomenon of speed out of control in the starting process of the unit, made a simulation test of the control equipment of speed regulating system by utilizing the valve calibration function of 505E digital controller, determines the cause of failure through comprehensive analysis, summarizes practical experiences in the fault treatment of speed out of control of exhaust turbine, and provides reference for the fault treatment of the speed control system of similar units.

Abstract:Stack is an important and indispensable structure of industrial enterprises, and it is also an important facility to discharge off-gas, through which waste gas is discharged into the surrounding air. Wet desulfurization process has high efficiency in removing SO2 in off-gas, but low efficiency in removing SO3 which is the main component causing off-gas corrosion. Therefore, after off-gas desulfurization, the potential corrosion of the stack is not eliminated, on the contrary, the off-gas environment after desulfurization will further aggravate the corrosion situation. This paper analyzes the corrosion mechanism of off-gas after wet desulphurization, describes the common structure forms of stack to discharge off-gas, summarizes the principle of structure selection of stack to discharge corrosive off-gas, and introduces the categories of stack lining and eight common anti-corrosion lining materials of stack. The stack to discharge off-gas after wet desulfurization shall adopt suitable anti-corrosion lining material according to actual engineering conditions.
