For frequency converters in a specific power segment, either low voltage (380V) or medium voltage (10kV) can be used. As to how to make the selection, a techno-economic comparison shall be conducted. In this paper, actual project is taken as an example, and by comparing the initial capital cost and operating cost of two different voltages, the converter voltage is selected according to the principle of optimal comprehensive estimated costs.
